Electronic Exchange: Case Initiation

SCOPE OF WORK

A pilot program to eliminate in-person papering in most cases and stream-line records-sharing and administrative processes by establishing electronic collection and dissemination of arrest and prosecution reports across the criminal justice system.

DESCRIPTION OF PRODUCTS AND SERVICES PROVIDED TO CUSTOMER

Enlightened created a foundation for automating the electronic exchange of an individual's arrest record from MPD, through the prosecutor's offices, to the actual filing of the case with the DC Superior Courts by enhancing the JUSTIS business application to function as a technology platform for criminal and juvenile information exchange.

OUTCOME/VALUE/BENEFIT TO CUSTOMER

DC public safety has been enhanced through more accurate arrests and effective prosecution decisions achieved through the automatic, electronic exchange of case initiation information amongst the public safety agencies. Additionally, police overtime reductions resulting from the automation of the case initiation process will save DC taxpayers millions of dollars.
