LOCAL COMPANY RANKED ONE OF THE TOP COMPANIES IN AMERICA BY INC. MAGAZINE
Enlightened 264th Fastest Growing Private Company on 2004 Inc. 500 List

WASHINGTON (NOVEMBER 11): Inc. magazine has named Enlightened as one of the fastest growing private companies in America. Enlightened has been ranked 264th in the 23rd annual issue of Inc. 500. The ranking was based on the company's total growth between 1999 and 2003. Enlightened grew by more than 550 percent over the five-year period.

Founded in 1999, by three friends who met at George Washington University, Enlightened is a local, Washington-DC based company with big heart. Early next year, Enlightened kicks-off a program called, "Enlightening Our Youth" which gives academic scholarships to local high school students. In addition to scholarships, the program provides local youth opportunities to participate in internships at Enlightened, as well as, attend workshops focusing on entrepreneurship and information technology.

Inc. Magazine, the premier publication for small and medium sized businesses, releases the Inc. 500 Special Issue yearly. To be eligible for this year's Inc. 500, companies had to be independent and privately held through their fiscal year 2003, have had at least $200,000 in net sales in the base year of 1999 for Inc. 500 alumni and 2000 for new applicants, and $2 million in net sales for 2003. In addition, their 2003 sales had to exceed 2002 sales. Companies are ranked on averaged year-over-year sales growth. Inc. verifies all information using tax forms and audited financial statements from certified public accountants and by conducting interviews with company officials.
