ENLIGHTENED SYSTEM WINS TOP- FIVE HONORS AT INDUSTRY ADVISORY COUNCIL'S 2007 EXCELLENCE.GOV AWARDS
Enlightened's Justice Information System Selected for Excellence.Gov Award

WASHINGTON (FEBRUARY 20): Enlightened, Inc., an INC. 500 and Inner City 100 company, is pleased to announce that the Industry Advisory Council's (IAC) Collaboration and Transformation Shared Interest Group (C&T SIG) has selected the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council's (CJCC) Justice Information System (JUSTIS), a system developed by Enlightened, as one of five top honorees for the Excellence.Gov award. The honorees were chosen for demonstrating best practices in information sharing for federally-led IT program implementations.

JUSTIS is a secure, integrated web-based system that fosters interagency participation and collaboration within the criminal justice community. Built on the enterprise service-oriented architecture framework, JUSTIS provides efficient information sharing and data exchange capabilities between the federal and the law enforcement agencies in the District of Columbia. Enlightened was originally awarded a contract with CJCC in 2005 to reengineer and enhance JUSTIS.

In January, a panel of 23 judges representing both government and industry selected JUSTIS for the "Top 20" after reviewing 115 entries and evaluating each on the following criteria: clearly articulated means of collaboration enabled by technology; use of innovative information technology to support the objectives of collaborating organizations and federal strategic goals and objectives; demonstrable efficiency gains, cost advantages or superiority over previous methods of collaboration, supported by metrics; and a sound approach to addressing security and privacy of data.

From the 20 finalists, five winners were selected for their distinctive achievements. These winners were announced Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the Excellence.Gov Awards ceremony.
